As described earlier, teaism was invented as a method to enlightenment. The enlightenment means seeing beyond zero; understanding that we need not have our body even ourselves. According to Nanporoku,
The essence of Rikyu’s teaching was this: the true self that is free from attachment and anxiety, dualistic notions of subject and object, has thrown out everything.
After throwing out entirely only one truth remains. The true self does not mean our soul, zero itself, and Buddha.
